A beautiful day for a hike as twelve of us, led by Josianne, set off from the Ashnola River road up Crater Mountain. The first 2,000 feet elevation were via a logging/herding road to a dilapidated log cabin. From there, a further 1,000 foot climb took us through flower-filled grassy meadows to our lunch spot with stunning views of meadows below and the Cathedral Mountains on the horizon. Here we turned around, still 2,500 feet short of the summit of Crater Mountain, and retraced our steps back to the trailhead.
